    HIPS - High Impact Polystyrene

    Polystren plates are a great solution for needed elasticity usage areas. Mostly it is more economic than substitute goods. They are high resistant plates. It is ideal for press and vacuum with limited budget. Because of smooth surface, it is very easy to clean.. It is just this reason preferred for some use. It should be used carefully because of tension component. It is not suggested to use in open-air for long hours.

    EPS - Expandable Polystyrene

    Expanded Polystyrene Foam (EPS) is derived from petrol via polymerization of styrene monomer and is a typical white colour thermoplactic material with closed stomas in foam form. There are also grey products in special production, where particules are processed toreflect the long beam of lights.

    In EPS products obtained by swelling and mixing polystyrene particles, the gas used to swell the particles and get foamvis Pentane. An organic component Pentane changes places with the air in a short time after providing formation of many numbers of small pores. The released Pentage then turns into CO and H2O. With pentane released, the still air is trapped inside the many numbers of (3-6 billion in 1m3 EPS) small covered porous cells. 98% of the material consists of static and dry air and %2 is polystyrene.

    Besides all these features, EPS is 100% recyclable, with no damage to the atmosphere and the ozone layer, an environmentally friendly material. Specific types of EPS can also be used even in the food goods packaging and are non-hazardous to human health.

    EPS products are used extensively in the construction of thermal and sound insulation and packaging industry as plates, pipes or pre-shaped elements. EPS products have a wide range of usage, from the use as wall material in buildings, to cold storage insulation of cold regions in highway construction, the reinforcement of the floor, to the production of lifejackets for ships. It has unlimited area of usage where the lightness, resistance, shapability, and low thermal conductivity is important.

    PP - Polypropylene

    Polypropylene is a termoplastic polymer which has wide usage area like automotive sector, textile and packaging.

    Polypropylene is derived from polymerization of monomer propylene and it is extremely resistant for chemical solvents (acids and bases).

    In homopolymer, copolymer and random copolymer types, polypropylene is used for manifacturing OPP ve BOPP film, sack, bigbap, rope, plate, bottle, medical utensils, brush, fiber, carpet yarn, nonwomen, battery box, paint box, pipe and pipe joint parts etc.

    PVC - Polyvinyl Chloride

    More commonly known by the abbreviation as PVC, polyvinyl chloride is the third largest thermoplastic polymer used in the market. One of the most valuable products of the chemical industry is PVC, it is used in many areas like toys and building construction industry .

    PVC production is done in the industry with more suspension polymerization method. This polymer has a low crystalline structure, which consists the vinyl chloride. Despite low crystallinity, it generates large volumes of chlorine through big chlorin groups in the chain and thereby is such resistant material. Chlorine groups’ influence to chain flexibility (or rather rigidity to) can be seen from glazing temperature (Tg = 80 ° C).

    One of the bigggest problem of PVC is to be sensitive to light and heat. Because of unstable structure, when exposed to high temperature or light for long hours, it sends out hydrogen chloride (HCl) and causes to fizzle the other material in environment. More importantly, HCl is harmful for human health. PVC or haloid polymers like PVC are stabilized with additives and reduced to bring hazardous waste or eradicated completely.

    PVC is a very hard and tough material and thanks to these mechanical features it has wide usage area. Moreover, since the start of use of plasticiser additives to make PVC flexible, it has become more important in the market. To increase the impact strength of PVC, PVC plastic is mixed with the rubber.

    ABS - Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene

    Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or by the abbreviated form ABS, is a light and rigid polymer which is widely used in products that are produced with mold style. It has good quality of surface.
    Specifications:
    Resistant for depreciation. It is a good isolation material. It is not affected by humidify and damp. Because of dehumidification feature, it should be dry at 80-90C for two hours before using.

    PMMA - Polymethyl Methacrylate

    Mostly known as acrylic glass or plexiglass in market polymethylmethacrylat (PMMA) is colorless and transparent thermoplastic polymer. Generally considered an alternative to glass and PMMA can be also alternative for polycarbonate using products because of similar to polycarbonate. Although it is cheap and easily processed, it has limited usage are due to its fragile structure.

    Automotive headlamps, device covers, optical equipments and home decoration stuffs are madeby injection molding produced PMMA parts. It is also possible to produce acrylic plates. Outside of raw PMMA, copolymers which produced by ethyl acrylate and metal methacrylate monomers are used in thermoset resins. In fact, most of industrial using acrylic plastics are produced by different combinations of acrylate / methacrylate copolymers.

    SAN - Styrene Acrylonitrile

    SAN is derived from random copolymerization of polyacrilonitril and polystiren between %20-%30. Adding PAN to styrene improves the transparency, surface appearance of copolymer, making it also very easy to process.

    Because of transparent feature of SAN, it is used in optical devices’ lenses and medical devices. SAN’s polymer blends with PVC and PSU is widenly used in industry.

    EVA - Ethylene Vinyl Acetate

    Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) isa copolymer with vinyl acetate content and widely used in industry. Level of vinyl acetate in content states qualification of ethylene vinyl acetate. When the ration of vinyl acetate rises, hardness decreases. The flexible structure occuring depending on decreasing hardness is especially used for toughening hard polymers.

    EVA shows structural specifications according to the level of vinyl acetate. For example, EVA copolymers with % 7-8 Vinyl acetate acts like modified polyethylens. If they have high level of vinyl acetate such as %15-20, they act like inner plasticizer. Obtained impact resistance rise depends on using level of EVA and processing conditions. They are used in especially polymers of polyolefin class.
