    PVC - Polyvinyl Chloride

    More commonly known by the abbreviation as PVC, polyvinyl chloride is the third largest thermoplastic polymer used in the market. One of the most valuable products of the chemical industry is PVC, it is used in many areas like toys and building construction industry .

    PVC production is done in the industry with more suspension polymerization method. This polymer has a low crystalline structure, which consists the vinyl chloride. Despite low crystallinity, it generates large volumes of chlorine through big chlorin groups in the chain and thereby is such resistant material. Chlorine groups’ influence to chain flexibility (or rather rigidity to) can be seen from glazing temperature (Tg = 80 ° C).

    One of the bigggest problem of PVC is to be sensitive to light and heat. Because of unstable structure, when exposed to high temperature or light for long hours, it sends out hydrogen chloride (HCl) and causes to fizzle the other material in environment. More importantly, HCl is harmful for human health. PVC or haloid polymers like PVC are stabilized with additives and reduced to bring hazardous waste or eradicated completely.

    PVC is a very hard and tough material and thanks to these mechanical features it has wide usage area. Moreover, since the start of use of plasticiser additives to make PVC flexible, it has become more important in the market. To increase the impact strength of PVC, PVC plastic is mixed with the rubber.

    PE - Polyethylene

    The oldest polymer of termoplastic group, polyethylene is classified in various categories based on its intensity and chemical features. Mechanical specifications depend on its molecular weight, crystalline structure and branching sort.

    ABS - Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene

    Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or by the abbreviated form ABS, is a light and rigid polymer which is widely used in products that are produced with mold style. It has good quality of surface.
    Specifications:
    Resistant for depreciation. It is a good isolation material. It is not affected by humidify and damp. Because of dehumidification feature, it should be dry at 80-90C for two hours before using.

    PC - Polycarbonate

    Polycarbonates is a specific group of termodynamics. They are easily processed, shaped and thermic pressed. These type of plastics have extensive usage areas in manufacturing. Named as policarbonates, because they have functional groups which is linked by carbonate groups (-O-CO-O-) in the long molecular chains.

    The Most common Polycarbonate plastic type is the one that contains polymer chains formed by carbonate groups which merged with Bisphenol A (BPA). This type of polycarbonate is very durable and is used in manifacturing bulletproof glass. Polycarbonates’ characteristics are similar to polymethylmethacrylat (PMMA: acrylic), but polycarbonate is stronger and more expensive. Plus, this polymer is quite transparent. It has better permeability characteristic than most of glass type.

    CR-39 is a specific polycarbonate material with good optical and mechanical properties and is often used in making eyeglasses.

    SAN - Styrene Acrylonitrile

    SAN is derived from random copolymerization of polyacrilonitril and polystiren between %20-%30. Adding PAN to styrene improves the transparency, surface appearance of copolymer, making it also very easy to process.

    Because of transparent feature of SAN, it is used in optical devices’ lenses and medical devices. SAN’s polymer blends with PVC and PSU is widenly used in industry.
